Cruising Group

Held every other Saturday at the Minneapolis Sailing Center starting June 1, 2024 10-12:30pm.

Within this group you will learn how to sail at your own pace with the help of a sighted guide. The blind/visually impaired sailor will learn everything that has to do with sailing. No experience is necessary.

For example:

Rigging a boat
Being at the helm
Using the mainsail
Using a jib
Safety
Finding the wind direction
Many more

For the 2024 season we have some sailors that will do solo sails, get their flag ratings and sail off the mooring.

Volunteer Sighted Guides

These are volunteer sighted guides that will join you in the boat. Each boat could have 1-4 blind/visually impaired sailors and 1 sighted guide (sometimes 2). These are sighted guides that have gone through the annual TCBS training.
