Cruising Group

Within this group you will learn how to sail at your own pace with the help of a sighted guide.  The blind/visually impaired sailor will learn everything that has to do with sailing.  No experience is necessary. 

For example:

• Rigging a boat
• Being at the helm
• Using the mainsail
• Using a jib
• Safety
• Finding the wind direction
• Many more

For the 2025 season we have some sailors that will do solo sails, get their flag ratings and sail off the mooring.

• May 30th 2026 -  10am-12:30pm - Stay an extra hour to experience what it is like to race.

• June 27th 2026 - 10am-12:30pm (Intro to Racing 12-1pm with MSC and Wayzata Sailing at MSC)
• June 28th 2026 - Sail-A-Thon Fundraiser
• July 11th 2026 - 10am-12:30pm
• July 25th 2026 - 10am-12:30pm (Duluth Blind Sailors coming down)(Intro to Racing 10am-12:30pm with MSC and Wayzata Sailing at MSC)
• August 2nd 2026 -  Cruising/Regatta with Wayzata 10am at MSC
• August 8th 2026 - 10am-12:30pm
• August 22nd 2026 - 10am-12:30pm
• September 5th 2026 - 10am-12:30pm - Last Day for Cruising

These are volunteer sighted guides that will join you in the boat.  Each boat could have 1-4  blind/visually impaired sailors and 1 sighted guide (sometimes 2).  These are sighted guides that have gone through the annual TCBS training.
